The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is adding a Project Geologist/Project Manager to support environmental remediation and energy transition projects in our Upstate New York offices and beyond. The position may be based in our Rochester office or as a hybrid work-from-home/office arrangement within commuting distance to our Buffalo, Rochester, or Albany offices.

 

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting and managing multiple projects with a focus on Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and corresponding environmental cleanup activities. Work will include a balance of field leadership on HAZWOPER sites, office responsibilities, and project management.

 

Location: Rochester, Buffalo, or Albany, NY (Hybrid Option Available)

Your Role:

  • Lead and implement Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in accordance with ASTM standards.
  • Serve as field lead for site characterizations on Brownfields and other remediation projects.
  • Conduct soil, groundwater, and soil vapor sampling, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Develop scopes of work and prepare associated cost estimates for environmental cleanup and remediation efforts.
  • Prepare reports, proposals, and other technical documentation with strong attention to detail and clarity.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables while ensuring quality standards.
  • Maintain effective client communications and represent Tetra Tech in a professional manner.
  • Collaborate closely with environmental and engineering teams, participating in both office and field operations.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • 5–8+ years of professional experience conducting environmental site assessments and generating work products.
  • Prior experience preparing Phase I ESAs (ASTM E1527-21) and Phase II ESAs (ASTM E1903-19).
  • Valid OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training required.
  • Current OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Training, DOT Hazardous Materials Training, and Waste Management training certifications are a plus.
  • Strong technical writing skills and ability to prepare scopes of work and cost estimates.
  • Experience with ArcGIS and data visualization tools is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Compensation:

Pay commensurate with experience.

Pay Range: $82,000 – $90,000 annually

  

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
