Position Summary:

Tetra Tech is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Orlando, FL team. This position offers the opportunity to lead the design and delivery of complex electrical systems that support water, wastewater, and infrastructure projects throughout Florida and beyond.

 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the planning, design, and analysis of electrical systems for municipal and industrial water, wastewater, and infrastructure facilities.

  • Develop and review one-line diagrams, control schematics, and panel wiring diagrams.

  • Design medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, fire alarm, and security systems.

  • Prepare and review technical specifications, cost estimates, and basis-of-design documentation.

  • Oversee the development of construction documents, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with project standards.

  • Utilize power systems analysis software such as SKM Power*Tools, ETAP, or EasyPower to perform load flow, short-circuit, and coordination studies.

  • Support client relationships by participating in technical meetings, presentations, and proposal development.

  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure successful project execution.

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers, fostering professional growth and quality design practices.

  • Ensure all designs meet budget, schedule, quality, and regulatory requirements.

 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (Florida or ability to obtain within 6 months).

  • 10+ years of experience in electrical design for consulting engineering, with a focus on water, wastewater, or infrastructure facilities.

  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA standards, and relevant local and national design codes.

  • Demonstrated experience preparing construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates.

  • Proficiency with power system modeling software (SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proven ability to lead technical portions of projects and mentor staff.

  • Valid, unrestricted U.S. driver's license.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • Experience with instrumentation and control (I&C) system design and integration.

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Revit for electrical design coordination.

  • Familiarity with utility coordination and regulatory permitting processes.

  • Experience developing arc flash and coordination studies.

  • Active involvement in IEEE, NSPE, or other professional engineering organizations.

 

 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and use computer equipment for extended periods.

  • Occasional site visits requiring walking, bending, or lifting up to 25 pounds.

  • Must be able to travel to project sites, client meetings, and conferences as required.

 

 

Work Environment/Environmental Factors: 

  • Hybrid work environment combining office-based design work with occasional field visits.

  • Field work may include exposure to construction sites, industrial facilities, and outdoor conditions.
