Your Role
The selected candidate will provide support to a wide variety of projects and clients throughout the United States. This position may support various contracts for federal, state, and commercial clients.  

Responsibilities will include:

  • Support and manage environmental projects and task orders including site investigations, regulatory compliance activities, and remedial actions.
  • Communicate and interact with project clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Complete field data collection activities, including multi-media sampling.
  • Oversight and management of subcontractors during completion of geophysical surveys; drilling and installation of soil borings, monitoring wells, and soil gas probes; and excavation and other remedial activities.
  • Support the development and implementation of environmental plans and procedures.
  • Develop and/or deliver training, planning, and preparedness efforts under federal and state contracts.
  • Assist in supporting emergency preparedness and response and disaster recovery activities, including potential support within an incident management structure or as a technical subject matter resource.
  • Support proposal and cost estimate development.
  • Interpret analytical data using spreadsheets and databases.
  • Prepare technical report deliverables, including data evaluation, interpretation, and presentation.
  • Mentor and train junior staff.

Qualifications
Candidates must have a minimum 15 years of environmental consulting or related experience.  The ideal candidate must also have/be: 

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Highly motivated and customer focused.
  • Ability to work successfully both independently and in a team environment.
  • Project management experience.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills, as well as proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Experience with completion and/or management of site investigations and remedial actions are preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of U.S. EPA, Illinois EPA VAP, and/or state environmental programs are preferred, but not required.

In addition, the following is required:

  • Passing a criminal background check.

Degree / Certifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in environmental science, geology, or related field required.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER and current 8-hour refresher certification required.
  • Professional licenses or certifications such as Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer are preferred but not required.

Work Environment

This position requires up to 20% travel, which may include overnight travel.  The primary work environment is office, with remote hybrid work flexibility depending on project requirements.  Travel to client sites and other locations to conduct meetings, site visits, etc. will be required.  These sites may be outdoors within the U.S. during all seasons, including peak summer and winter conditions. You must be able to:

  • Walk around project sites in all types of terrains.
  • Lift and carry equipment weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Meet physical demands of hazardous waste site work.
  • Complete annual medical monitoring program.
  • Drive on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good driving record is required.

Benefits
Tetra Tech offers a basic core medical plan and our 401k retirement plan for this position. 

The Salary Range for this position is $50/hour to $125/hour, depending on education, experience, skills, and location.
