Tetra Tech Inc., an industry leader and nationally recognized engineering and consulting firm, is seeking a professional, motivated, and intelligent candidates to fill two (Remote) Staff Archaeologist positions for our Federal NEPA, NHPA, and Environmental Compliance team. The person selected will become a part of the Tetra Tech Environmental Government Services cultural resource team and will conduct a variety of technical writing, field, administrative, and project planning tasks to support Federal, State, and commercial contracts. Project assignments will primarily be in the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Midwest regions of the United States. This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.

Your Role:

 •    Support Federal, State, and commercial projects with the development of desktop reviews, work plans, technical reports, archaeological and built environment surveys, data collection, monitoring, evaluative testing, and site mitigation across multiple states – primarily those of the Southeastern, Mid-Atlantic, and Midwest regions of the US.
•    Work independently on contract deliverables such as letter reports, technical reports, and work plans.
•    Support and report to the Cultural Resource Program Manager and the Senior Cultural Resource Specialist for project needs.
•    Support the Project Manager to identify, plan, and track project deliverables.
•    Work with clients, State Historic Preservation Offices, Tribal Historic Preservation offices, and other stakeholders to meet Section 106 compliance requirements.
•    Author cultural resource sections of NEPA documents including, but not limited to, Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements.
•    Provide subject matter expertise and technical guidance to team members in support of their functions.

Qualifications :

•    Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology/Archaeology or a closely related field; advanced degree highly desired.
•    Must have attended an archaeological field school and have at least five years of cultural resource management experience in the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, and/or the Midwest.
•    Archaeological experience in other U.S. regions also valued.
•    Prior experience writing NEPA cultural resource sections highly desired.
•    Prior experience producing GIS deliverables highly desired.
•    Prior experience conducting document reviews and writing technical documents highly desired.
•    Direct experience with federal and state agencies cultural resource regulations is highly desired.
•    Direct experience with DoD Section 106 compliance; previous work with SHPOs and THPOs highly desired. 

•    Ability to identify, record, and analyze archaeological artifacts, features, and sites in-field and through GIS.
•    Ability to interpret and synthesize archaeological and historical data to furnish reporting under Section 106 review and NEPA assessment.
•    High proficiency with technical writing to support environmental contracts.
•    Proficiency with electronic devices, ESRI ArcPRo, and office software.
•    In-depth knowledge of the requirements for archaeological project execution including logistics and permitting needs.
•    Knowledge of federal, state, and/or local regulations and statutes.
•    The ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures in remote locations, perform shovel testing and excavation, and traverse up to 10 miles a day in varied terrain. 
•    Familiarity with DoD other Federal and State plans and processes highly desired.
•    Preference is given to applicants who meet the Secretary of the Interior's Qualifications for archaeology.
