Join our Texas Water Infrastructure team where Tetra Tech is ranked #1 in Water by Engineering News Record for 20 years consecutively. The successful candidate for the Southeast Texas Group Leader position will work with a dynamic team of project managers, project engineers, technical specialists and associated staff to provide direction in project delivery, business development and technical expertise for the geographic area. The Group Leader will join the Texas team as a Texas licensed professional engineer with  experience in analysis, design and project management for watershed planning and flood mitigation projects. The candidate is required to supervise and interpret the work performed by project teams using various hydrologic and hydraulic modelling software. 

 

 

Your Role: 

  • Lead, perform and manage analysis and planning of drainage and flood control programs undertaken by regulatory agencies. 
  • Manage a team performing modeling, mapping, alternatives evaluation, design, cost estimating, and report preparations. 
  • Support development, management and maintenance of client relationships on projects and develop new business with existing and new clients. 
  •  Conduct public presentations to small and large groups and in technical marketing activities. 
  • Work with operations manager to identify appropriate staffing for water infrastructure projects and to balance monthly labor forecasts.  
  • Ensure technical accuracy, standard engineering practices and inclusion of appropriate documentation on various reports and design projects. 
  • Evaluate alternatives, resolve technical issues and interface with other disciplines. 
  • Achieve financial targets in relation to backlog, utilization, and invoicing. 
  • Lead/assist in business development activities, including writing and pricing scopes of work for proposals. 
  • Serve as subject Matter Expert in Stormwater Hydraulics and Hydrology. 
  • Identify strategic recruits and develop an overall recruiting plan to help grow the Texas region.  
  • Manage and mentor staff and identify opportunities for staff development.  

 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Master's preferred 
  • 10+ years of experience showing increasing responsibility.   
  • Professional Engineer (PE) in Civil Engineering, registered in Texas or ability to obtain licensure in Texas. 
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record 
  • Active involvement with industry/technical organizations such as ASFPM, TFMA, ASCE, and others. 
  • Significant experience in conducting watershed planning, drainage impact, flood studies, and river basin studies, etc.  
  • Expert knowledge of modeling software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, XPSWMM, etc.  
  • Ability to analyze and interpret modeling results and understand practical application of modeling results. 
  • Ability to lead conceptual, preliminary design of projects developed through watershed planning, and effectively communicate with clients, regulatory agencies, etc. 
  • Experience with Texas Flood Control clients such as HCFCD, SARA, Counties, TWDB, GLO, and River Authorities.  
  • Strong preference for engineers with extensive experience with FEMA, USACE, TxDOT, Regional River Authorities, counties and local agencies, processes, procedures, methods and criteria. 
  • Experience with H&H software to include the full suite of HEC products such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HEC-MetVue, HEC-ResSim and HEC-GeoHMS and RAS.  Others include InfoWorks ICM, and the Mike Flood suite of Mike Hydro River, Mike+, Mike21.
