The Opportunity
Tetra Tech is looking for a part-time Senior Planner for our Honolulu, HI office.
The selected candidate will provide program and project support in community planning, urban design, open space planning, and climate resilience to private and government clients. Candidate will be responsible for preparing renderings to conceptualize adaptation options and developing community and urban plans. Candidate will also assist with business development and project capture/proposal writing and costing efforts. Position will require occasional local and international travel for programmatic visits and client meetings.
This position is part-time, no guaranteed hours. Work will be conducted on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications
The selected candidate must have 40+ years of community planning and urban design in Hawaii, especially the Island of Maui, and the west coast of the US. The candidate will have:
• Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, developing master plans, and adaptation strategies, working on a variety of planning and design projects, and collaborating with community members and other professional staff to resolve site specific and regional problems.
• Experience working with public agencies in planning and parks.
• Experience with frequent correspondence with clients, subcontractors, working groups and internal customers, and resource agency staff.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Able to communicate effectively through clear writing, engaging presentations, and graphic techniques.
• Able to make evaluated decisions for the betterment of the client and the company.
In addition, you will have / be:
• Self-motivated and able to work independently yet collaborate and communicate effectively as an integral member of a project team.
• Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, and related database, illustration, and document preparation software.
• Skills with hand rendering
• Good working knowledge of GIS is a plus.
• Enthusiasm, resourcefulness, and a positive attitude is a plus.
Degree / Certifications
• Masters in Urban Planning
• Masters in Landscape Architecture
Work Environment
This position is primarily office work. Minimal travel required, expected to be predominantly within the main Hawaiian Islands and western states of the U.S.
• Must be able to travel and visit project sites in hot, humid climates including coastal areas, defense installations, and urban areas.
• This position is part-time, no guaranteed hours. Work will be conducted on an as-needed basis.
• Must live in Hawaii at the time of application. Moving or relocation expenses are not supported.

Tetra Tech offers a basic core medical plan and our 401k retirement plan for this position.
The Salary Range for this position is $85.00 per hour to $110.00 per hour, depending on education, experience, skills, and location.
