Summary of Position
Responsible for implementing, monitoring and managing the Environmental, Health and Safety Programs for Harris Products Group in Gainesville, Georgia, in compliance with city, state, Federal, LECO, rules and regulations. Creates a work environment that is safe, healthy, and environmentally friendly.
Key Deliverables
Safe work practices; Timely reporting to LECO, State of Georgia and Federal Government; Oversees and assists accident investigations; Waste reduction, compliant environmental health and safety programs and discharge levels.

Safety, DART Rate, TRC Rate, waste, and environmental metrics for Gainesville, Lean Project Completion, EBITB, workers' compensation costs
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Works safely and supports safety within their team and across the organization
Environmental, Health & Safety
- Raises awareness at all levels of the organization regarding the impact of emerging safety or environmental issues, whether legislative or best practice, corporate, ethical or social responsibility
- Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and EPA rules and regulations, including data monitoring and reporting for Lincoln Corporate
- Manages the communication methods for internal and external interested parties which may include reports, information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential or actual safety and environmental hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions
- Inspects facility to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented
- Review and approve new equipment installations and manufacturing layout changes for EHS issues.
- Schedules, organizes and leads monthly Safety Team meeting and provides monthly safety training materials and support for all HPG - Gainesville teams
- Reviews safety policies and procedures with all new employees
- Maintains safety files and records
- Directs First Aid Responders and BBS Team
Accident (NMII) Investigation / Corrective Action
- Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and assists in the preparation of material and evidence for use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations
- Prepares studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies
Regulatory / Corporate Compliance / Reports
- Develops and audits strategies that ensure sustainable development of the ISO 14001 environmental management system. Serves as the Management Representative to the registrar
- Ensure compliance with all EHS laws/regulations/codes/rules including OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI, etc.
- Compiles and submits accident and other environmental reports as required by regulatory agencies
- Oversees the administration of workers' compensation program
- Maintains Internal Safety Data Sheets (SDS's)
- Monitors and oversees waste disposal and wastewater treatment
Training / Training Programs
- Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials, as well as other legal and regulatory training. Conducts ergonomics, forklift, hazardous communication, and fire extinguisher training.

- Manages UN testing for packaging
Education and/or Experience
Required -
- Bachelor's Degree of Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Health and Safety Science or related field and 4+ years of working in industrial environment with responsibilities in Safety and Environmental functions.
- Waste Water Treatment License- if not already obtained, will be required as part of the position
Preferred-
- Master's Degree of Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Health and Safety Science or related field and 6+ years of working in industrial environment with responsibilities in Safety and Environmental functions.
