Join our team as an OB/GYN Educator and Perinatal Safety Nurse! Are you passionate about educating nurses and ensuring the highest standards of perinatal care? We are looking for a dedicated and experienced OB/GYN nurse to lead training, promote best practices, and enhance maternal and newborn safety in our dynamic healthcare team!
Schedule: Monday - Friday, D/E, weekend coverage as needed
Main Function:
- Provides nursing professional development and education services by assisting nurses in preparing for contemporary practice and supporting them in acquiring the knowledge and skills to carry out all facets of care in the field of obstetrics and gynecology
Provides ongoing collaboration with hospital and outpatient clinical administrative leaders and MCIC Vermont, Loss Prevention and Patient Safety staff in the implementation of Patient Safety Initiatives
Utilizes theory-based practice integrating the domains of the Nurse Educator role to include advanced practice clinical specialty skills, education, research, leadership, and consultation

- Promotes evidence-based practice findings and identifies clinical research opportunities in collaboration with physician leadership, practice management and staff nurses
- Implements teaching and learning strategies and interventions based on adult learning theory, fostering critical thinking skills among nurses
- Evaluates clinical outcomes as related to education interventions including the impact on cost, quality and patient satisfaction
- Maintains own knowledge base to keep current on interventions, trends, healthcare and professional nursing developments
- Displays a professional demeanor that exemplifies a positive role model for professional nursing practice at all times
- Demonstrates a high level of collaborative practice, professionalism and excellent communication skills
- Collaborates with all members of the team, demonstrating leadership skills, critical thinking, analysis, effective conflict resolution and role modeling

- Functions autonomously and is an independent decision maker, able to practice within an acute care setting while demonstrating outstanding skills working with obstetrics and genecology clients
- Functions as a facilitator and innovator for state-of-the-art nursing care with direct involvement in the implementation of new techniques for safety and quality
- Maintains own knowledge base to keep current on interventions, trends, healthcare and professional nursing developments
- Knowledge of Systems Theory and the change process is required
- Actively guards the confidentiality of sensitive information including but not limited to the patients, staff and the health system
- Demonstrated success in training and evaluating staff
Qualifications:
- Required
- NYS license as a Registered Professional Nurse
- Current BLS certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation within one year of hire
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification per MCIC standards within one year of completion of orientation
- Preferred
- Certification in an obstetrical or neonatal specialty
Education:
- Masters in nursing education, leadership or related field required
- Maintains a minimum of fifty hours of continuing education annually
Experience:
- 3-5 years clinical experience in a hospital setting
- 2 years of OB/GYN clinical experience
- Experience in education and other program planning
- Project management experience desired
- Curriculum development experience
- Simulation development and implementation experience
Position Pay Range: $90,000-105,000/year
Starting Pay: Based on experience
