Summary of Job Duties: The Assistant Service Line Administrator has direct budget and administrative responsibility for the operations of the Neurosciences Service Line and the COM Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Spine Institute departments under the guidance of the Service Administrative Director/Department Administrator. This position is accountable to ensure optimal financial, budgetary and operational support to all entities and its leadership. This position will collaborate with the senior leadership in strategic planning, financial performance, and operational initiatives.

Assistant Service Line Administrator maintains administrative responsibility over the departments' research, educational, and/or service operations and activities under the guidance of the Service Line/Department Administrator. The position will assist with development of department budget, implements administrative strategic priorities, and supports senior administrative staff. The Assitant Service Line Administrator provides operational and managerial oversight for staff.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, healthcare administration or related field plus six (6) years of administrative experience or 

  • Master's degree in business, finance or related field plus (4) four years of administrative experience required.


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Provides financial, budgetary, operational support.
  • Manages operating budgets, analyzes program financial variances, conducts audits and financial reviews, and makes appropriate recommendations and adjustments.

  • Analyzes, monitors, and reviews financial performance indicators and makes recommendations for improvement.

  • Provides support for payroll, purchasing, travel, and financial transactions and develops financial reports.

  • Monitors financial reporting of performance indicator reports such as scorecards, staff benefit reports, Service Line P&L statements and other financial/performance reports to ensure accuracy of information and targets and productivity objectives are met both at the department level and service line level.

  • Reviews productivity targets for clinical areas to ensure appropriate staffing, and assists in the annual review of targets utilizing Action OI data and outside benchmarks when appropriate to ensure staffing levels are appropriate. 

  • Assists in faculty recruitment and retention process, including onboarding, immigration processes, effort allocations, and identifying and encouraging training opportunities, in compliance with UAMS policies.

  • Reviews, processes, administers, oversees and coordinates sponsored project and clinical trial applications, awards, reports, documentation, and record keeping.

  • Prepares reports, ensures compliance with all relevant rules and regulations for grants, trials, and contracts.

  • Provides oversight for Contract Management review including analysis of contract to ensure it meets the needs of the organization, financial review and to ensure that all contracts are entered into Ntracts.

  • Creates and disseminates performance goals.

  • Works closely with leadership to support the mission and vision of the institution, ensure strategic direction of the entities, and facilitate patient satisfaction.

  • Focuses on developing a talented workforce by guiding the staff to engage in appropriate educational and training opportunities.

  • Ensures departmental compliance with all UAMS rules and procedures and annual requirements.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.
