The Ultrasound Imaging Supervisor has the responsibility and accountability for planning, organizing, and directing all activities relating to patient care within the Women's Ultrasound Unit. Responsibilities span all sites that include women's ultrasound and include directing the delivery of quality patient care and technologic advanced imaging in a financially responsible manner through collaboration with physicians and other professional and support staff throughout the department and organization. 

 

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides direction across all Women's service line ultrasound imaging.  This includes on campus Women's ultrasound imaging, as well as any offsite Women's ultrasound imaging. Advanced knowledge of this modality, and all associated clinical procedures is mandatory.
  • Uses a broad theoretical knowledge base and the principles of patient centered care as applicable to assist in the establishment of patient centered care standards.
  • Ensures that standards of patient centered care are maintained.
  • Demonstrates clinical and leadership skills, serving as a role model for staff members. Provides consultation to sonographers and partnership to ultrasound attendings in evaluating current patient status and plan of imaging.

  • Communicates current trends, concepts, and issues of professional practice.
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge base and skill in patient care and the procedural imaging Maintains own competency to perform ultrasonography Functions as a professional role model. Recognizes and identifies clinical practice problems and facilitates solutions. 
  • Assists Ultrasound Medical Director and ultrasound attendings to facilitate completion of ordered exams and procedures. 
  • Implements staffing patterns based on patient needs, staff qualifications, and resources available to ensure quality patient centered care. Maintains continuity within the section by adjusting staffing based upon patient acuity/need.
  • Serves as a patient advocate for health care issues.  
  • Uses a broad technologic knowledge base to establish imaging patient care standards consistent with changes in health care delivery and imaging research. 
  • Assumes responsibility in quality improvement processes; determines issues to be examined, participates in data collection, analysis, and dissemination.
  • Assists in initiating and implementing changes in patient centered care delivery as identified via the process. 
  • Provides and supports an environment which encourages staff to accept responsibility for learning as part of the development of their own professional practice. 
  • Responsible for the planning and evaluation of educational programs to meet unit needs and to promote staff development. Promotes and ensures staff participation in educational programs.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates the unit-based orientation program for new employees.
  • Assists in assuring that all staff are provided the opportunity to attend mandatory educational programs, in-services, and competency days per JCH regulations. Works to develop appropriate annual competencies for the department.
  • Serves as a role model for staff by presenting or arranging educational programs.  Assists in the educational experience of both medical and nursing staff as they rotate through the unit.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of new products and equipment related to the specialty areas.
  • Works with Practice manager to provides input to annual operating and capital budget

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Technical certification by ARRT or equivalent subspecialty certification of accrediting body; including but not limited to ARRT, RDMS, CNMT, and RN.
  • 2-year Associates Degree
  • 6 years of Sonographer/Lead Experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Achievement in developing, implementing, and maintaining successful customer service programs and improvements

 

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Keep current registry by ARDMS in OBGYN
  • CPR and BLS training required
