The Department of Pathology at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center (UHCMC) and Case Western Reserve University is seeking a full-time academic Transfusion Medicine faculty member to join our growing clinical service. The successful candidate will engage in all aspects of the Transfusion Medicine service (blood bank, therapeutic apheresis, hematopoietic stem cell collection/cellular therapy, and coagulation diagnostics) as well as teaching of students, residents and fellows. Leadership roles within the Transfusion Medicine section can be considered for qualified candidates. Research activities are encouraged for all faculty members. For physician-scientist candidates with potential for competitive externally-funded laboratory research programs, appropriate laboratory space and start-up package commitments will be provided.

The Transfusion Medicine section serves UHCMC, Seidman Cancer Center, Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital and all system community hospitals and ambulatory locations in the UH network. The Transfusion Medicine service supports a wide array of clinical services, including active solid organ and hematopoietic stem cell transplant programs, adult and pediatric Level 1 Trauma centers, obstetrics, cardiothoracic surgery, hematology/oncology (including comprehensive sickle cell and hemophilia treatment centers), a high-risk neonatology service, and an active pediatric surgery program. The Department of Pathology is in the top 13 nationally in NIH funding, and the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center is in the top tier of comprehensive cancer centers.

The candidate must have an MD (or equivalent) and board certification/eligibility in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine. Candidates must be qualified for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Ohio. Fellows are encouraged to apply. A productive trajectory in research and teaching is desired.
