Position Summary:

Located in Central Development, the Corporate and Foundation Relations team works with administrators, faculty, program directors and development officers to build effective partner relationships, working to understand the needs and priorities of corporations, corporate foundations, associations and private foundations and to facilitate partnerships to advance UCI's mission.
  Reporting to the Executive Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations, the Assistant Director, Corporate & Foundation Relations will work with members of the CFR team to secure funding for projects that arise from the diverse talents and resources available throughout the university by building relationships with corporations, foundations and charitable associations, nationally and locally. They will create awareness about UCI's areas of excellence in research, teaching and public service and assist in creating strategies for outreach to funding agencies. Extensive research and prospect identification is required.

  The expected pay range for this recruitment is $33.52 - $38.32 (Hourly Rate). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $31.94 - $56.75 (Hourly Rate).

Required:
  • At least 2-3 years experience in development, writing, communications, marketing, non-profits or foundation/corporate relations. 
  • Experience working with complex databases, preferably donor databases within a nonprofit setting preferred. 
  • Experience in development and/or sponsored projects administration at a major research university desired. 
  • Professional work experience in working with university faculty and groups of faculty members preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. 
  • Strong arts and sciences background as well as comprehensive formal or informal education in the humanities, fine arts and social sciences.
  • Working knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques. 
  • Working knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc. 
  • Good written and interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies. 
  • Good organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills. 
  • Skills in maintaining confidentiality. 
  • Resourcefulness in finding appropriate solutions to problems and initiative in presenting alternatives and implementing solutions to ensure effective change. 
  • Ability to anticipate problems and take necessary action to eliminate or mitigate potential negative effects. 
  • Ability to be flexible and working independently. 
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative to organize and follow through with complex tasks to meet deadlines 
  • Skills to use a personal computer and computer software programs at the level of sophistication required for the University Advancement team. 
  • Proven ability to use MS Office Suite and database programs. 
  • Knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Familiarity with the Internet and how to conduct searches. 
  • Ability to prepare and edit written gift and grant proposals, inquiry letters, case statements and concept papers and collateral materials for corporations, foundations and other granting organizations. in a style that is clear, accurate, action-oriented, compelling and tailored to the targeted audience. 
  • Proven project management skills demonstrating an ability to organize work so as to meet regular deadlines, often managing many projects during the same time-frame.

 

Preferred:  
  • Working knowledge of the location, its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure. 
  • Ability to develop and analyze project budgets for inclusion in proposals desired Working knowledge of Salesforce. 
  • Knowledge of the applications of persuasive writing skills to a development program, specifically foundations, corporations and associations. 
  • Knowledge of compliance with all UC, UCI and University Advancement policies and procedures desired.
     
Special Conditions Required:  
  • Required to drive on occasion in order to perform the routine or essential job responsibilities for the position. 
  • Must possess a valid California driver license and participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program.
