Department Purpose

Public Scholarship & Engagement (PSE) is an academic unit within the Office of the Provost, under the direction of the Vice Provost of Public Scholarship. The PSE works collaboratively with the university's ten colleges and schools, other university-wide units, centers, and institutes, as well as with non-university groups. The PSE fosters and promotes the discovery, learning, and engagement for the public good.


Job Summary

The Community Partner Coordinator plays a supportive role in the success of the UC Davis College Corps program, grant-funded by California Volunteers. This new, regional program creates paid service opportunities for low-income students, while addressing key community topics throughout the Sacramento Valley. Under the direction of the Director of Engagement, Office of Public Scholarship and Engagement, and the direction of the Community Partner Liaison for Sacramento Valley College Corps, the Community Partner Coordinator provides essential administrative support, assists with outreach efforts, and continues to build strong relationships with community partners.

The Community Partner Coordinator is responsible for key administrative duties and event planning/coordination. In addition, they assist with communication to our community partners. The Community Partner Coordinator works with campus colleagues, along with various Consortium collaborators, each with a diverse mission, but shared commitment to fostering engaged research and teaching and building strong, strategic partnerships locally, regionally, statewide, and globally.

This is a contract position with the option for extension based on business needs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014.   • Work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet operational needs.
  • Travel to meetings across two campuses (Davis and Sacramento) to meet faculty, students, and community members, and attend meetings/seminars/conferences to develop communication materials.
  • Provide own means of transportation.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Required:

 

Minimum Education/Experience

  • Administrative and event planning experience.

 

  • Experience working on community educational programs or volunteer educational management programs OR volunteer experience.

 

  • Outreach experience.

 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)

  • Administrative skills, including data entry, competency in Microsoft Office suite, scheduling meetings, preparing materials for workshops or meetings, taking minutes, and email communication.

 

  • Event planning and coordination knowledge.

 

  • Ability to learn new on-line communication management platforms, such as Airtable.

 

  • Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with faculty, staff, students, other center partners, and non-university constituents from diverse cultural backgrounds.

 

 

Preferred:

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

 

  • Experience working independently to organize, prioritize and coordinate multiple complex and detailed projects, adapt to changing work priorities, and perform interrelated tasks. Experience building respectful working relationships with community organizations across various sectors.

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)

  • Knowledge of community-based and government organizations in the K-12 education, food security, and climate action sectors.
