Job Summary

Within the division for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (VC-DEI), the Director of Strategic Partnership and Community Engagement operates under general supervision in the strategic partnership and divisional resources unit. The Director of Strategic Partnership and Community Engagement collaborates with university leadership and stakeholders to develop and implement programs, initiatives and outreach efforts to increase diversity, improve campus climate and promote inclusion. This position represents the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) in collaboration with campus departments (UCD and UCDH) and external partners in support of the mission of the VC-DEI. Under the guidance of the Chief Administrative Officer, Chief Impact Officer and Chief Strategy Officer (C-Suite), this position leads special projects that support the mission of the VC-DEI.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience
  • Experience developing, leading, coordinating and implementing high level programs/projects, work groups, task forces, committees, or related groups and strategic plans for diversity and inclusion, and community issues.
  • Experience in conducting research and analysis of organizations trends and metrics to develop best strategies, practices and policies related to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Experience with dissemination of data and findings through written reports or publications.
  • Advanced project management skills to handle complex projects that have broad organization and/or community impact from conception to fruition.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication and diplomacy skills to develop and present complex proposals on community building, conflict management/resolution, restorative practices and other areas to address campus climate and community relations issues, and to advance the goals of diversity and inclusion

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in related area.
  • Advanced skills in the principles and practices of diversity, equity and inclusion and EEO, Affirmative Action policies and processes.
  • Skill to exercise independent judgment and make effective decisions based on knowledge of campus and University priorities, resources and policies.
  • Skilled in developing and monitoring budgets associated with campus climate and student support.
