Description

Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Assistant Director of Member Services, coordinate day-to-day member services operations of the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC), including but not limited to customer service, access control, sales, marketing and monitoring budgets. Manage the membership programs for the ARC/Campus Recreation on the Davis campus, and the UC Davis Health Fitness Center in Sacramento. Work cooperatively with the Member Services Coordinator at the ARC to ensure a safe and positive experience for student staff and members in the facility; act as back up for the Member Services Coordinator as necessary. Supervise a large student staff, ensuring adequate training to provide excellent customer service and appropriate access control. Serve as primary for equipment maintenance, procurement, and ARC vendor contact. Assist with special events, and serve on department or campus committees in support of the Department of Campus Recreation, the Division of Student Affairs, and the UC Davis campus community.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current first aid, CPR, AED certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training. 
  • Supervision and leadership experience to recruit, hire, train, motivate and evaluate student staff.
  • Experience providing high quality customer service in a high traffic environment. Experience in handling conflict resolution.
  • Experience in a sales or membership environment. Experience in recreation member services, including market trends, data analysis, and recruitment and sales.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with culturally diverse students, staff, faculty, and others in the university community.
  • Proficiency in both oral and written communication to interact with a diverse community in a concise, effective, courteous and professional manner.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with computer applications such as Microsoft Office and database management.
  • Experience with budget development and efficiently monitoring expenditures
  • Experience working with Fusion, Fusion Go and Freedom Pay
  • Master's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Ability to interpret, communicate, implement, and uphold policies and procedures
  • Management and organizational skills to plan, organize/determine workload priorities, meet deadlines, direct numerous and varied projects and activities, and to follow-up and troubleshoot issues.

Campus Recreation is a department within the Division of Student Affairs that provides, wellness, and recreation programs to the campus community through the operation and administration of the following: Activities and Recreation Center, Living Well Programs, Rec Sports, Sport Clubs, Equestrian Center, Craft Center, Youth Programs, Aquatics, the Cal Aggie Marching Band and UC Davis Health Fitness Center.

Work Environment

  • Regular schedule may include evenings/nights and weekends depending on program needs.
  • Job has the flexibility of working 2 days remotely per week when schedule permits.
