Description

1-year ECLS/CTICU fellowship. This is a non-ACGME fellowship designed to provided dedicated cognitive and psychomotor training in the specifics of cardiothoracic critical care. The trainee will spend 1 year immersed in our 28-bed high-volume CTICU. In additional to gaining subspeciality experience with cardiothoracic critical care (cardiogenic shock, post-cardiotomy, heart transplant, lung transplant, etc.) trainees will learn clinical and procedural skills necessary to apply and manage the highly-specialized therapies of extracorporeal life support and mechanical circulatory support. There will also be opportunities to be involved and/or lead extra-clinical efforts in the CTICU and Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI), including clinical leadership, education, QI, and research.

Candidates should be board-eligible or board-certified in critical care medicine (internal medicine, emergency medicine, anesthesiology, or surgery) and interested in building a career in cardiothoracic critical care medicine.

Each year we train over 30 clinical fellows to be outstanding intensivist physicians. Each trainee completes a broad critical care curriculum that includes hands-on care, didactic education, and cutting-edge use of simulation and web-enabled learning.
