Description

The Sadler and Price Labs are jointly recruiting one postdoctoral fellow to work on projects investigating microbial-sensory neuron interactions in health and disease. The fellow will be expected to work with human tissue and develop a project that integrates computational approaches and in vitro functional assays (e.g., calcium imaging, electrophysiology). Additional individualized training goals consistent with the fellow's career goals will be identified by Drs. Sadler and Price. The fellow will have ample opportunity to apply for independent funding, travel to scientific conferences, and network with other academics. This postdoc is expected to mentor junior lab members and contribute positively to the Price and Sadler Lab.
The Research Associate will be primarily responsible for planning, conducting and directing a wide variety of experiments. Responsible for the evaluation and interpretation of research data. Will conduct experiments using advanced equipment and apply complex techniques, methods and procedures; plan and execute the details of experiments according to research protocol.
This is an NIH grant-funded position, and continued employment is contingent on the availability of funds.

Minimum Education and Experience

Ph.D in a related field.



Preferred Education and Experience

  • PhD in Neuroscience, Physiology, Microbiology, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
  • Expertise in pain science
  • Strong evidence of leadership in the form of first author publications, mentoring experience, leadership roles in organizations, or similar activities.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducting computational analyses
  • Performing primary cell culture
  • Completing in vitro calcium imaging experiments
  • Performing whole-cell patch clamp electrophysiology experiments
  • Analyzing data
  • Developing independent lines of research
  • Active participation in regular group and 1-on-1 meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Creative thinking skills and a predisposition for problem-solving
  • A deep understanding of the relevant neuroscience literature.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong proficiency in the English language (both written and verbal)

Travel: This position may be subject to travel to conferences/training, or other project needs.
