Description

The position is responsible for participating in a variety of duties related to testing services in the Testing Center. These responsibilities include assisting with the daily test administration duties, interacting directly with staff members and student workers, and providing services to everyone who uses the testing center including all UTD community and the public. This is accomplished by ensuring all test-taking requirements are met in the Testing Center.

Minimum Education and Experience

Two years of college and two years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a testing center and prior supervisory experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 1 year of related work experience in a testing center environment.
  • Knowledge of the Higher Education system.
  • Demonstrate ability to interpret policies and procedures and uphold confidential information with discretion and in alignment with the Family Education Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations.
  • Attention to detail, organizational and interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for, a diverse population.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills (including proofreading, spelling, grammar, and punctuation).
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), internet-based applications and Outlook.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day coordination of all testing activities.
  • Check-in examinees, verify identification, and provide proper testing instructions. Make sure that only permitted items are carried into the testing room, and that remaining possessions are properly stored.
  • Facilitate large groups of people in a testing environment; follow and understand oral and written directions; interpret statistical data and information; keep records and prepare reports.
  • Maintain a comfortable, quiet, and secure testing environment.
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of the testing environment and ensure all testing materials are filed and stored promptly and appropriately.
  • Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to the established practices and procedures within the assigned time frame while always maintaining a professional attitude at all times.
  • Respond to and/or direct inquiries made in person, via email and on the phone.
  • Ensure that all activities are conducted within the established guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Report technical issues or needed repairs or updates of computers in testing room to supervisor or software system specialist.
  • Maintain training manuals, collect testing data and prepare reports when required.
  • Assist the Testing Center team with administrative tasks, and/or other projects as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Additional Information

This position requires some evenings and Saturdays to support the Testing Center's schedule.

This work for this position is done in person and on campus.
