SCHEDULE: Varies - 40 Hours Per week
FACILITY: Douglas County Correctional Center
LOCATION: 710 S. 17th St, Omaha, NE

POSITION SUMMARY
The Psychiatric Technician is a part of the multi-disciplinary treatment team and works directly with mentally ill or intellectually and developmentally disabled offender patients, providing therapeutic services within mental health programs and units. The incumbent plans and conducts a variety of specifically assigned therapeutic activities, assessments, and interventions. Provides patient supervision and leadership of activities appropriate to the program involved. Activities are correlated with patient needs, are based on treatment plans and are designed to help achieve self-adjustment and clinical stabilization.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Plans and conducts a variety of specifically assigned patient activities appropriate to the designated program.
2. Provides leadership for one or more groups of patients during therapeutic activities program.
3. Evaluates patients' capabilities and prepares recommendations on placement of patients in activity programs.
4. Assists in maintaining administrative and clinical records.
5. Requests supplies and equipment needed for assigned activities.
6. Provides individual instruction for patients as required.
7. Reports delays, discrepancies or any and all concerns immediately to the appropriate supervisor.
8. Performs all duties and activities per the Behavioral Health Policies and Procedures and facility Administrative Directives.
9. Maintains an orderly, clean and organized medication area at all times.
10. Maintains confidentiality of all patient records.
11. Attends unit meetings as directed.
12. Participates in Quality Assurance studies and meetings as requested or directed.
13. Approaches changes in a positive manner.
14. Gathers and collates pharmacy data for submission at CQI meetings. Completes outcome studies for CQI meetings to monitor contract compliance.
15. Makes suggestions for improving work conditions to the Mental Health Coordinator or HSA
JOB REQUIREMENTS
The following requirements list the minimum to qualify. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
LICENSING: None Required.
CERTIFICATION: Current CPR Certification
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling.
EXPERIENCE: One (1) year experience as a Psychiatric Technician preferred; correctional experience preferred
