Working Hours: 36 - 40  hours a week (72 - 80 hours per pay period) **Required to work every other weekend and holiday rotation. Shift:  (10:30 am – 8:00 pm) - working hours are subject to change Position Reports to: Urgent Care Department Manager   

Department Description: Wilson Health's Urgent Care provides treatment for patients of all ages for common illnesses and minor injuries. Our Urgent Care is staffed by skilled and experienced medical providers ready to care for individuals on a first-come, first-served basis depending upon the seriousness of their condition. Wilson Health's Urgent Care offers treatment for common illness and minor injuries including COVID-19 Testing, Colds-Cough-Fever, Flu Symptoms, Minor Burns, Minor Cuts, Sore Throat, Sinus Pain/Allergies, Ear Ache, Poison Ivy, Insect Bites, Rashes, Skin Infections, Strains/Sprains, Bumps/Bruises, Minor Sports/Injuries, Work/Sports Physicals, Stitches/Staples, and X-rays.

Job Summary: The clinical support staff (CMA) is responsible for assisting patients from lobby to office exam room where they will obtain various pertinent patient information (in relation to training) such as vital statistics, current medical concerns, as well as update on current medications and allergies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Performs all duties under the supervision of the physician/provider, and within the guidelines established by the physician/provider; anticipates duties that need to be performed and strives to make the physician/provider as efficient and effective as possible.
  • Greet patients courteously and assist patients in the examination room in a helpful and compassionate manner; conducts self-according to ASPIRE values.
  • Obtains and accurately records vital signs, chief complaints, current medications and allergies.
  • Assists physician/provider with examinations, including blood draws, lab specimens, injections, electrocardiograms; assists physician/provider with minor surgical procedures.
  • Educates patients/family members on topics related to the patient's medical condition and care within the guidelines established by the physician/provider. Documents in the patient's medical record accurately, appropriately, and thoroughly.
  • Assists in ordering diagnostic tests and procedures, and making referrals, including referral tracking documentation in the practice management system.
  •  Communicates with patients and family members in a professional and compassionate manner; communicates test results under the guidance and direction of the physician/provider.
  •  Performs quality control measures on all appropriate medical testing equipment, refrigerators, sterilizers; properly completes compliance logs regarding quality control.
  • Maintains proper inventory of medical and lab supplies; orders of supply according to established guidelines.
  • Follows all applicable federal and state laws and regulations; follows Wilson Health Medical Group and Wilson Health policies and procedures; always follows HIPAA Privacy and Security Practices.
  • Assists with scheduling patients, faxing and electronic communications, telephone duties, form completion and other clerical duties as needed to maintain an efficient, effective medical office.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Electronic Health Records (EHR) - EPIC, preferred
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant acquiring certification.
  • Urgent Care experience preferred or 2+ years of experience - preferred
