Job Overview:  Shift 6AM-2:30PM (Shift subject to change based on business needs)

Reporting to, and at the general direction of the Grounds Manager, Employee in this position is specialized in the management of subsurface moisture throughout the Property, and in the identification and management of all pests deemed harmful to the thriving of all plant materials on such Property.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Continuously inspects Property, locating and identifying all pests, which are deemed harmful to plant material on Property
  • Identifies all appearances of noxious weeds, reporting them to Supervisors, using the written form provided for that purpose
  • Applies such granular or liquid pesticides and fertilizers as required to manage such pests, without harming such insects or other denizens which are deemed beneficial to the thriving of plant material on Property
  • Continuously keeps Supervisors informed of his/her needs for materials, supplies, and resources in the form of written Bills of Materials, and a continuously updated white board in the Grounds office, and via a continuously updated spreadsheet log, listing dates, product, and locations treated, amounts applied, shrinkage amounts, and remaining amounts on-hand
  • Takes and maintains responsibility for pesticides, ensuring that they are properly stored and secured at all times, that required recordkeeping is current and complete, and that chemicals are disposed of in a proper manner
  • Trains and mentor's on-site technicians in chemical application
  • Constantly stands; walks while carrying up to 40 lbs., lifts up to 50 lbs., bends at the waist and knees. The ability to walk and simultaneously apply product, at proper application speed, to the entire property is a critical requirement for this position
  • Performs work outdoors and some tasks may be performed regardless of weather conditions
  • May require working while exposed to loud noises, dirt, dust, tobacco smoke and foul odors
  • Work is characterized by the necessity for considerable physical exertion, by close daily contact with unpleasant materials
  • Operates edgers, lawn mowers, tractors, spreaders, fertilizers, aerators, and other motorized machinery
  • Work involves heavy lifting and exposure to fumes, chemicals and other noxious odors, machinery with moving parts and noise
  • Maintains, cleans and dresses the facility and grounds including pools, building's exterior, outside structures and parkway areas
  • Applies chemicals, as directed to clarify and sanitize swimming pools, brushes and cleans all pool surfaces
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

 Job Requirements: (please ensure you meet the listed requirements prior to applying)

  • High School diploma or GED required or currently enrolled and successfully complete a GED program within six (6) months from start date as a condition of continued employment
  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older
  • Employee must hold an “Ornamental and Turf Pest Control Supervisor” credential granted by the State of Alabama- required
  • Three (3) years of successful experience applying pesticides and fertilizers in resort or other commercial landscape settings having multiple-building, campus-like characteristics- required
  • Must have, and be able to demonstrate proficiency with calculation of a variety of ratio and proportion calculations, as required to safely mix and apply pesticides and fertilizers
  • Must have a well-developed sense of urgency, since much of the work of this position is time critical
  • Must be highly detail oriented, as attention to detail is fundamental for safe and effective handling of pesticides and fertilizers
  • Must be able to read and write English sufficient to complete bills of material, noxious weed reports, and other forms or reports as needed
  • Willing to work odd and irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Willing to travel and participate in training as recommended or required
  • Must have a valid and current State Driver's License and an insurable driving record for purposes of driving company vehicles as required
  • Must have a Tribal Gaming License (or the ability to obtain and maintain a license) as a requirement for this position
  • Must have willingness and ability to work in a smoke/secondary smoke environment
