OBSTETRICS & GYNECOLOGIC FACULTY (Instructor, Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (2 positions)
Wright State University's Boonshoft School of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology seeks two full-time academic-minded faculty physician with a passion for teaching the next generation of physician learners. As a member of the OB/Gyn Department, a new faculty member will have opportunities to work alongside colleagues who are deeply engaged in local, regional and national initiatives to address issues of access to medicine and healthcare. The Department's research labs received significant external grant funding to help support their research endeavors in this and other areas. The Department also serves as a regional leader in Quality Improvement initiatives in a variety of inpatient and outpatient clinical care areas. The Department has robust collaborations in basic science research as well, particularly around hypertensive diseases in pregnancy. Additionally, we have a cadaveric surgical training facility for our OB/GYN residents and students in which innovative didactics occur throughout the year.

Duties include:
  • Participation in education/supervision of medical students/residents in various settings including inpatient work, Labor & Delivery, OR and outpatient clinic sites
  • Participation in direct patient care activities.
  • Additional time will be made available to conduct research & administrative activities.
  • Members of the WSU BSOM Ob/Gyn faculty team, have opportunities to contribute to academic development, learner experiences, research, academic programming, and clinical practice.
  • WSU BSOM maintains clinical practice through Wright State Physicians, Inc., the faculty practice plan.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE OR CERTIFICATES PRIOR TO THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. MD, DO, or MBBS degree
  2. Completed 4-Year Ob/Gyn Residency
  3. OB/Gyn Board Certification (or Board-Eligible^)
  4. Unrestricted Ohio Medical License
  5. Federally-issued DEA License

Instructor candidates must meet all requirements above by their start date, as Board Eligible. Assistant Professor candidates must meet all requirements above by their start date, as Board Certified.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Professional history and interest/ability in any of the following:

  • Research, publications, and grant submissions
  • Clinical trials / translational research
  • Quality improvement initiatives
  • Academic or clinical leadership
  • UME/GME efforts curriculum development, course direction, simulation center instruction, etc.
  • Direct supervision of resident learners within inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Community outreach and collaboration
  • Ability to serve as a model for excellence in research and clinical care
