Job Summary:
The Student Services Specialist serves as the first point of contact for students and campus visitors, providing exceptional customer service and assistance. This position ensures individuals receive appropriate directions, guidance, and information while offering administrative, clerical, and technical support to Student Services.
Essential Job Functions:
- Serve as the initial point of contact, greeting and assisting students and visitors by providing accurate information and directions.
- Operate the campus ID machine.
- Manage and adjust timed communication as needed.
- Provide detailed information about Student Services, including admissions, assessment, orientation, registration, and advisement.
- Answer and route telephone calls, responding to inquiries or directing them to the appropriate department.
- Monitor and route incoming email communications to the relevant Student Services department.
- Assemble informational packets and materials for recruitment events, admissions, and special projects.
- Perform various clerical tasks such as handling mailings, maintaining referral information, and addressing information requests.
- Maintain accurate records for current and prospective students.
- Assist students with online services and enrollment processes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Position Qualification
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent experience
Work Experience:
- Minimum of one to two years of responsible clerical or administrative assistant work experience.
- Customer service-oriented person who has experience working in an office setting in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate diplomatically, clearly, and effectively, both verbally and in writing to exchange information, give/receive instructions and respond to inquiries appropriately with all students, faculty, staff and community partners.
- Demonstrated knowledge of office technologies including but not limited to office computers, fax machines, scanners, internet, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain flexible and courteous during stressful times.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate Degree or equivalent related experience with some coursework preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include some nights and weekends.
- Work will be performed in an office environment with a significant amount of public contact, in person, by telephone, via email, and various communication platforms.
Physical Requirements:
- Duties require extended periods of sitting, standing, talking and listening.
- Duties require extensive use of computers, telephone and other office equipment.
- Requires possible lifting of up to 25 lbs. (If an object weights more than 45 lbs., OSU-Oklahoma City requires this to be a two-person lift).
