Position Summary:
The UC Irvine Office of Information Technology (OIT) is responsible for supporting the IT needs of faculty, students, and staff. Our mission is to provide information technology leadership, services, and innovative solutions to promote the research, education, and community service goals of the University. Educational Web Technologies is a web application Scrum team committed to providing our user base with the highest quality secure applications and software. Consequently, we're looking for a dedicated, security-minded professional who likes to provide practical solutions.
  Under the supervision of the Manager, Educational Web Technologies, the Quality Assurance Analyst applies QA concepts, OIT, and Education Web Technologies policies and procedures to test a variety of moderately complex software changes or enhancements on projects where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. As a member of the Office of Information Technology (OIT) Educational Web Technologies (EWT) group, the QA Analyst works cross-functionally designing, developing, and building tests and implementing technical solutions with a focus on creating efficiency through technology. Understands the applications and their infrastructure to apply testing logic and data to support the team's needs for effective excellence. Focuses on manual testing, troubleshooting, and debugging all software applications, and works closely with the team within the full development life cycle. Leads the QA testing and becomes accountable for its accuracy.   Total Compensation:

  $31.94 - $56.75 (Hourly Rate)
  Required:  
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in software quality assurance 
  • Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Working knowledge of software functions and analysis. 
  • Knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes. 
  • Understands compliance requirements for applicable industry or agency standards. 
  • Interpersonal skills in order to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. 
  • Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner. 
  • Self-motivated, ability to learn quickly, meet deadlines, works independently and as part of a team and demonstrate problem-solving skills. 
  • Working knowledge relating to the design, development and analysis of software. 
  • Working skills in software lifecycle management. 
  • Working skills in software testing. 
  • Ability to analyze and produce test cases from acceptance criteria and project notes. 
  • Ability to engage in Scrum meetings providing QA perspective to project stories and planning. 
  • Ability to perform full-regression and exploratory testing on applications of various complexities. 
  • Ability to try/iterate on new processes and methodologies as the team evolves.
  Preferred:  
  • Working understanding of the design, development and analysis of software. 
  • Working skills associated with software design, modification, implementation and analysis. 
  • Working understanding of the use of automated testing tools, including skill to perform automated QA procedures. 
  • Working knowledge of other areas of IT. 
  • Knowledge of department processes and procedures. 
  • Working skills in understanding and implementing the release cycles.
     
Special Conditions Required:
 
  • Must pass a background check. 
  • Position eligible for remote work with occasional on-campus requirements. 
  • Must reside in California.
