Mechanical Prototype Technician
Kelly® Engineering is seeking a Prototype Technician with a strong mechanical background for a contract-to-hire position with a manufacturer of arcade style games located in Elk Grove Village. $25.00—$28.50 per hour
Hours: 8-4:30
Overview
Our client is a growing game manufacturer with R&D and manufacturing under one roof. They have a fast-paced product development environment where they release new games within 6-18 months.
In this role you'll be part of the product development team where you'll work with Mechanical Engineers to build & test mechanical assemblies, subsystems, and an entire prototype game. You'll collaborate with electrical technicians, modelmakers on the build of the prototypes.
Responsibilities:
- Build prototype assemblies and games as part of the product development and pre-mass production process while adhering to timelines provided.
- Read blueprints
- Provide or recommend modifications if applicable.
- Functional testing of the prototypes.
- Maintain games in the product development arcade, programmer offices, and throughout the facility. Maintain tools, supplies, and inventory (prototypes and their components) of prototype lab.
- Maintain lab cleanliness
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers & game designers on assembly issues.
- Document and communicate potential assembly issues, complex versus ease of assembly.
- If applicable, recommend opportunities to improve assembly process
- Collaborate with electrical technicians and modelmaker during prototype build.
- Support manufacturing with clarifying assembly instructions and communicate product development on assembly process and requirements
- 5-7+ years mechanical prototype or custom machine building or strong mechanical assembly experience required
- Prefer experience that includes assembly/build of electromechanical mechanisms, subassemblies such as servo motors, solenoids, sensors, or similar.
- Any previous arcade or gaming repair/assembly experience a plus.
- Any parts modification or minor fabrication skills is a plus.
- Proficient in reading blueprints, assembly instructions, BOMs
- Strong mechanical aptitude is required.
- Proficient using basic hand and power tools.
- Proficient computer skills to be able to view electronic blueprints, use Word, Excel, Outlook, Team/Zoom
- Collaboration skills and effective written and verbal communication skills to work with production staff as well as Engineering team.
